This policy explains what personal data Sophistaa collects when you visit sophistaa.com or buy from us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. We have written it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
Who we are
Sophistaa sells wooden charging accessories, wooden watches and related products worldwide from sophistaa.com. For anything relating to your data, contact us at info@sophistaa.com. We are the data controller for the information described below.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Order details. Your name, billing address, delivery address, email address and phone number when you place an order.
- Account details. If you create an account, your name, email address, password (stored encrypted) and saved addresses.
- Engraving text. Any names, dates, messages or artwork you send us for a personalised product.
- Messages. Anything you write to us through our contact form or by email, including wholesale enquiries.
- Newsletter signup. Your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. Your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system and the pages you view on our site.
- Cookies. Small files stored by your browser, described below.
We do not collect or store your full card number. Payment card details are entered directly with our payment provider and never reach our servers.
Why we use your data
- To process and deliver your order and to contact you about it, which is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To produce personalised and engraved items to your specification.
- To answer your questions and provide customer support.
- To send marketing emails where you have subscribed. You can unsubscribe from any email.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it, where you have consented to analytics cookies.
- To prevent fraud and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Cookies and analytics
Our site uses cookies in four groups: strictly necessary cookies that make the cart, checkout and login work; functional cookies that remember preferences such as your chosen currency; analytical cookies that tell us how visitors move through the site; and advertising cookies where these are in use.
Only strictly necessary cookies are set automatically. Everything else is set only if you accept it in our cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the consent icon on any page.
We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic in aggregate. Google may process this data outside your country. If you decline analytical cookies, Google Analytics is not loaded.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the shop:
- Payment providers, to take payment securely and to handle refunds and chargebacks.
- Shipping carriers and fulfilment partners, who receive your name, delivery address and phone number so your parcel can reach you and clear customs.
- Our website host and email provider, who store the data on our behalf.
- Analytics providers, where you have consented.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information.
International transfers
We ship worldwide, so your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including countries outside the UK and European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, with the providers involved.
How long we keep it
Order and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically six to seven years. Account data is kept until you ask us to delete the account. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages are kept for up to two years. Analytics data is retained according to the settings in our analytics tool.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your data, where we are not required to keep it.
- Object to or restrict how we use your data.
- Ask us to transfer your data to another provider.
- Withdraw consent at any time, including for cookies and marketing email.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, you also have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

Children
Our shop is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The whole site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and access to order data is limited to the people who need it to fulfil orders. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site.
