Two phones on one black walnut charging dock
The dual 30W black walnut dock gives each phone its own position, so nobody ends up with the bad spot or on the floor with a cable. Output is up to 30W combined across the two pads, which means both phones charge at a sensible rate at the same time rather than one crawling while the other fills.
Why black walnut for a charging dock
Black walnut is the darkest timber we work with, close to chocolate brown, with a straight tight grain and very little figuring. On a nightstand it reads as a piece of furniture rather than an electronic device, which is exactly what you want from something sitting in your eyeline every night. It darkens and warms further over the years.
Charging through a case
Wireless charging passes through most cases up to about 3mm thick. Metal is what stops it: mount plates, ring grips and cards with magnetic strips all need to come off first. The underlying standard is maintained by the Wireless Power Consortium, so Qi-enabled Galaxy and Pixel phones charge here as well as iPhones.
Where it works best
Shared bedrooms and two-person desks, obviously. It also suits anyone carrying a work phone and a personal phone.
