iPhone 12 and newer: magnetic charging
Every iPhone from the 12 through the 17 has a ring of magnets built into the back. Our MagSafe-compatible chargers carry the matching ring, so the phone snaps into position on its own and holds there. You get up to 15W, and because alignment happens automatically you never wake up to a phone that spent the night sitting just off the coil.

iPhone 8 to iPhone 11
These support Qi wireless charging but have no magnets. They charge perfectly well on any of our flat pads and stations; you simply place the phone yourself rather than letting it snap into place. A magnetic stand will not hold them upright unless you add a magnetic case.
Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and other Android phones
Any Qi-enabled Android phone charges on our pads and stations. Recent Galaxy S and Pixel handsets all qualify. Magnetic alignment began as an Apple design, so on a magnetic stand you will need either a Qi2 phone or a magnetic case to get the phone to stay put.
Apple Watch
Our 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 stations include a dedicated Apple Watch puck that works with every Series model as well as the SE and the Ultra. The Qi2 Solid Wood Foldable 3-in-1 Stand is the one most people travel with.
AirPods
AirPods charge on the third pad of a 3-in-1 station provided the case itself is a wireless charging case. AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 3 and later all are. The original AirPods with the plain white non-wireless case are not, and will still need their cable.
Charging through a case
Wireless charging passes through most cases up to roughly 3mm thick. Silicone, leather, plastic and wood cases are all fine. What stops it is metal: a metal plate for a car mount, a metal ring grip, or a thick metal bumper. Cards or anything with a magnetic strip sitting between the phone and the charger should come out first.
StandBy mode
iPhone 14 and newer running iOS 17 or later support StandBy. Turn the phone on its side while it charges and it becomes a clock, a calendar or a photo frame. Any of our angled magnetic stands will do this, which is why the bedside collection is built around them.
What Qi2 actually means
Qi2 is the industry standard that brought magnetic alignment to wireless charging beyond Apple. Qi2.2 raises the ceiling from 15W to 25W. If your phone supports it, our Qi2 pieces will charge noticeably faster than a plain 15W pad.
